Join us every Monday at 6:30 PM at The Good Home or every Tuesday at 6:00 PM at Galbraith's. This Meetup is for anyone who is interested in playing or learning to play the oldest board game on the planet; Backgammon. Played by the Egyptians 3,000 years ago. Novice to Expert are all welcome to roll the dice.

Time: Three days to finish each Round.
Entry Fee: NO ENTRY FEE
Players: Open only to Backgammon Players who are living in or
domiciled in New Zealand.Format: Swiss Format, Triple Elimination. You are out of the Tournament if you lose 3 Rounds.
Prize: $ 100.00 PRIZE for 1st Place finish. Only ANZBGF Members will be eligible for the prize.

- All Players must register by 17:00 October 09, 2025 with a single email to: morbeus@outlook.co.nz
- Matches will be 9 Points.
- Clocks will be set at Normal.
- Swiss Format: Triple Elimination.
- Pairings in the First Round will be determined by an AI Program as will all subsequent rounds. Winners play winners; losers play losers.
- A Triple-Elimination Tournament is a competition in which each player gets an allowance of three losses before being eliminated from the competition. Once you have three losses you are out of the Tournament.
- Tournament starts at 12:00 midday Friday, October 10, 2025.
- Players will have three days to finish each Round. The next Round cannot begin until completion of all Matches – no results by deadline will be recorded as lose/lose but players may continue to next round if they don’t have three losses.
- Swiss Format table and Players List will be sent to all registered Players.
- Players will access the Swiss Format Table to determine who your opponent will be.
- Players will be required to contact their opponent & schedule a time to Play the Match.
- Backgammon Hub is the default Platform for the 2025 NZ On-line BG Championship.
- However, you will also have the option of using BG Galaxy, Heroes or Nextgammon.
- You can use BG Galaxy, Heroes or Nextgammon if both Players agree to use the same Platform.
- Therefore, if both Players agree to use Nextgammon you can play the Match on Nextgammon.
- If both Players cannot agree on an alternative Platform, then the default Platform will be Backgammon Hub.
- Both Players will be recorded as losing if they are unable to finish the Match within three days. No excuses, no exceptions.
- Players to report the results of the Match to the Tournament Director. (AJM) morbeus@outlook.co.nz
- AJM will update the results and the AI will determine the next pairings.
PRIZE: $ 100.00 PRIZE for 1st Place finish. Only ANZBGF Members will be eligible for the prize.
